Many of us struggle with feelings of tightness and stress, which aren’t necessarily physical but stem from deep within our mental and emotional reserves. It’s a daunting task to heal wounds when we can’t pinpoint where they are or what they look like. Creating a detailed list of what we truly want can be a powerful tool in our healing journey. It requires us to be specific and intentional—what do I want from my life? What changes do I seek? Here’s how I am approaching this:
- Get Calm: Begin with finding calmness through meditation or quiet reflection. This state of mind helps in peeling back the layers of our emotions and thoughts.
- Release Triggers: Identify what sets off your stress or sadness. Acknowledging these triggers is the first step to disarming them.
- Reawaken Dreams: Often, we bury our desires under the weight of daily struggles. Reconnect with what you want in life—be it peace, a new couch, or a healthier lifestyle.
- Sleep and Respect: Prioritize rest and treat yourself with the same respect you’d offer others. Self-respect fosters self-care.
- Create Your List: Armed with a clearer mind and a respected self, detail exactly what you want to change. This list isn’t just a set of goals, but a map for your journey to wellness.
Living with Trauma: Tips to Move Forward
While the path to overcoming past trauma is deeply personal, here are some universal tips that I am currently utilizing that might help you as well:
