Sometimes life throws major curve balls at you. In the last four days alone I have had 3 vehicles in the shop. It hasn’t been the best news for our vehicles.
My new SUV was in an accident and required $3200 worth of repairs. Long story short, I hit a deer (the deer is fine, it lived (thank goodness)), but it did a little damage to my front end. My son’s car’s tire popped and required new tires ($148). However, it also needed new suspension, shocks, and struts for a mere $1300. It also needs all new brakes and calipers (which will be around $900).
Then my husband’s SUV died which would result in a $4000 new transmission. His has 145,000 miles on it so not sure if we will be forced into getting a new(er) vehicle for him or just keep it and take our chances that the engine is operable for a little while so we can plan better. As a result, he’s missed a day of work. He doesn’t get paid time off so that hurts. On top of this, there was a health scare with my mom and additional family concerns.
Am I letting it get me down? No. I refuse to be a victim of our circumstances.
It makes me focus on what’s important. We rely so much on our vehicles to get us to and from and when those are stripped from your existence, even temporarily, it has a major ripple effect in your daily life.
It was a very expensive 5 days. I will make up for this by signing on one new client per month.
This situation is making me realize I have to work harder. And I will. Just as I always have.
